ABOUT ME

Welcome

I'm Cyndi Murdoch and I'm so glad that you stopped by. I created Jackcyn Redesign back in 2011 as a space where I could discuss all things Interior Design. What began as a space purely for architecture and interiors has morphed, in my mind, into much more. It is now a space where I can creatively share my thoughts and experiences, on not only all things design, but on fashion, personal style, travel and living a healthy lifestyle, especially for those of us "of a certain age."

Let me tell you a little about myself.

I have always loved interior design, and as I child I would spend hours drawing floor plans and rearranging my room. I drove my parents crazy, talking them into painting my room in all kinds of crazy colors. Lavender, neon green and orange were three that stand out in my mind. Therefore, it was only natural that Interior Design would be my major in college, and I graduated with a degree in Design as well as a teaching credential. My first "real" job was teaching high school Family and Consumer Science, and I made it a lifelong career. I absolutely loved it, and was fortunate to be able to introduce students to my first love, Interior Design. During my career I also taught courses in fashion, child development, and Life Skills, helping students to live their best life as they ventured out into the world on their own.  I'm now retired, and my oldest daughter is teaching in my place. Funny how that worked out.

My husband and I live in Northern California, in the same college town where he taught.  It is electric with student energy when college is in session, then turns into a quaint and quiet hamlet in the hot valley summer months. I love the diversity and the cultural amenities that a university community provides. There is always something going on. I couldn't ask for a better place to live.

We love to travel and have had many adventures in much of the US, as well as in countries worldwide. I just love to experience other cultures - getting out of the tourist areas and into the community to see how the people of the country really live is our favorite way to go.

So again, thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll come back often to join me on my journey.

Cyndi
